The couple that won the right to marry in Massachusetts, officially filed for divorce last Thursday according to news sources. I remember the day they were married…it was May 17, 2004, and your Grrlplanet writer was actually there. I was outside when they walked out, and all was official. It was incredibly electric. The crowd was chanting “thank you,” it was like a big neighborhood block party. Signs of congratulations in local business windows, people flying flags and holding signs of support.
Although I’m sure that the media has already misinterpreted their split, it just goes to show you that we’re like everyone else.
It’s not always “happily ever after.”
