Okay…so you don’t get the perks for just having sex…but for the commitment you make. It’s admittedly, a beautiful thing. However, it isn’t the same for us even when we make the same commitments as anyone else. The benefits of that end at the state line – literally….and according to the Southern Voice, it seems that some lesbians in Massachusetts are tired of getting screwed by the Federal Government.
Mary Ritchie and Kathleen Bush (I know, don’t say it) are a couple in Massachusetts who are legally married in their state, pay over $15,000 more per year because they are forbidden from filing joint federal taxes…because, you know, the government doesn’t recognize same-sex unions due to the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
Even your Grrlplanet writer gets screwed by this…don’t calculate it up….I realize I could have bought a new car every year for what extra my gf and I pay in taxes. The government owes me 4 BMWs. You hear me Obama? four. They don’t have to be too high end…maybe just a 1 series? If he actually grants me four of them…I promise, I’ll actually give one away on this site. Share the love, you know?
