According to the Boston Herald, New York City has recently changed its policies so that children born to lesbian couples will have both couples names listed on the birth certificate at the time of birth. This is a wonderful step forward.

I feel bad for Americans for the fact that only now are you allowed to have both names on the birth certificate. I’m 31, my wife (yes, we are allowed to marry as well) is 33 and we have been together 9 years, we have 2 daughters, one 6 and the other 13 months. Our first daughter does not have both names on her birth certificate because at the time it wasn’t allowed, but our youngest does. Say what you will about Canada but I love the fact that I can be happily, legally, married and have both my children legally “listed” as OURS. I hope the rest of the U.S. catches up to New York, or better yet, Canada, soon! Good luck guys!
