Crime Report: Patricia Cornwell finally talks about her wife.

Okay, I was trying to be funny with the “Crime Report” thing and it really makes no sense. However, if you read Patricia Cornwell’s books (which do involve crime) then maybe it’s okay. Either way, the author finally talked to USA Today about her life, which includes the marriage to her spouse Staci Gruber:

The most important person in her life now is Gruber, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

The couple met four years ago when Cornwell was doing research into neuroscience at Harvard. She later moved to Massachusetts from Florida to be with Gruber.

“Staci is incredibly grounding. I feel very safe with her,” Cornwell says.

When they’re not working, they like to hike, ride motorcycles and hang out with their 9-month-old bulldog, Tram. Dog beds filled with puppy toys are scattered around their home.

“We never get tired of just talking,” Cornwell says. “We are great friends and have a wonderful time together. And we’re not into exotic entertainment. We’re really rather simple. We like to have pizza and watch comedy on TV or watch a DVD. We watch stuff you’d never think we’d watch, like White Chicks and Blades of Glory. Staci says, ‘If people could only see you, it would all be shattered in a moment.”

These are things that are always nice to read…you know, that normal people are lesbians too. I’m not sure what’s up with the belt buckle, but it seems like she has a pretty great life. Cheers to you, Patricia.

Nice. I’m a I-have-nothing-else-to-read fan of hers. But hey … I dig the belt buckle!

That is an odd belt buckle…

The belt buckle is the Scarpetta logo that Cornwell devised for herself. Her alter ego, in case you wonder, in combo with her other alter ego, Lucy… Very tortuous mind.

The buckle is in fact the Scarpetta logo that Cornwell designed years ago, but there’s no involvement of any alter ego–and I hear that Staci had that made for her to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the series-if you blow it up, its actually amazingly detailed. Great books and cool stuff I say-
