PETA wants Ben & Jerry’s to use Human milk instead of Cow’s milk.

This is true, and a little creepy.

According to WPTZ.com, PETA sent a letter to Ben & Jerry urging them to replace the cow’s milk in their ice cream with human breast milk. Why? “PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.”

I’m all for making dairy cows happy, but this was curious to me.

I’m not saying I’d never drink it, but I’m saying I couldn’t see having breast-milk cereal in the morning, a glass of breast milk with my extra-chocolate chip cookies, or just making hot cocoa with it….I could be pursuaded…maybe.

I’m wondering though…do we begin the process of gathering lactating women? How does this all work?

It would only be a matter of time before we had human farms.

Didn’t these people see The Matrix?

Phuck that. How about pushing for better treatment of cows.

Getting milk from them is natural!

Gawd… people can never be moderate about anything can they… LOL

The concept of using human breast milk in food seemed weird to be and, well, kind gross. I was curious about this phenomenon and I found this article about: Human Breast Milk Cheese Made in France

Very interesting…

Of course, it’s best to get the milk direct from the source, an idea I’m all for. :)

I like boobs as much as the next girl, but I don’t want milk from them. With that, I feel I may have made the most obvious statement ever.

ew, that’s really weird! i will definitely try my wife’s breast milk when she produces it in the next several months but the idea of just random women’s breast milk in my ice cream definitely grosses me out!

…. Just make sure the cows are happy by bettering the conditions they’re kept in. Cows *like* to be milked. Have these PETA people not done their research?

What’s most interesting to me here is how we seem to find consuming the milk of another animal – made for their babies – and find the idea of consuming a product made from the milk meant for humans as weird and gross.

No, I’m not a vegan, actually. And yes, how horrible it would be to think of women being treated as poorly as a lowly cow. Oh, wait…

Also: I thought it wasn’t good for adult humans to drink human breast milk?

Seeeeeee, I’m all for breastfeeding. I nursed my son for 14 months. But this? NO.

lol! love the last part.

As an aside, it is healthier for humans to drink human milk. We’re the only mammlas on the planet that drink other mammals’ breast milk. I love cheese as much as the next person (okay, probably even more), but it is weird that we’re weened off of our own milk only to go onto some strange animal’s. But this PETA idea is ridiculous.

Obvioulsy human milk is meant for humans, but drinking some random woman’s bmilk? Kind of ew. Bmilk does taste pretty good (I’ll admit it – I tasted my own when nursing my kids), but as a past lactater, I can say that it’s not something you want to do forever. I pumped my bmilk for a year (my daughter was a TERRIBLE nurser) and it’s not fun. Cows may be ok with being milked, but people aren’t. Women have more things to do than stand around chewing cud. So where does PETA think millions of gallons of bmilk are going to come from?
