What ever happened to En Vogue?

by Jul on April 15, 2009 · 2 comments

What ever happened to that awesome 90s band, En Vogue? Who could forget “You’re never gonna get it” and “Free your mind?” I missed them today. They won more MTV video music awards than any other female group in history.

If you want to totally rock out on a Wednesday, check out a video with them performing live with Kelly Clarkson…Here. I jammed with it this morning…does that make me a total geek? maybe.

You should heart Melanie Levesque

by Jul on March 27, 2009 · 0 comments

As of Thursday, the New Hampshire House of Representatives eeked out an approval for a bill that would allow same-sex marriage in their state…onto the Senate. One of the reasons it passed the House? Melanie Levesque, an African-American women who spoke passionately about the importance of challenging convention…after all, only 40 years ago, “convention” would have prevented her from marrying her husband, who is white.

Of course, the other reason why it may have passed is the RIDICULOUS argument of the other side. Want to hear a quote? It was too good to pass up. According to the Nashuatelegraph, Republican John Cebrowski said this:

“A peanut butter and jelly sandwich can’t be anything but peanut butter and jelly….Creamy peanut butter and crunchy peanut butter can never, ever be a PBJ.’’

….So we’re basing laws on sandwiches?

The best thing about these chicks? They were raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness. It was one of UCLA’s “pinkzone events.” I love the one in the pink Cinderella gown with the puffy sleeves…she seems to be a real scrapper.

Lady GaGa is your kind of woman…

by Jul on March 13, 2009 · 1 comment

Sure, she dresses a little funky..but if you close your eyes, and stay in the dark, she sounds like one heck of a ride. In a recent interview with xtra, not only does she confirm again that she’s bisexual (so we definitely have a shot here), but admits she’s fun in the sack…saying a great place that she’s had sex was in the back of a New York City taxi.

She actually seems like a really cool person. She doesn’t talk trash about people and seems really supportive to the other chicks out there. It doesn’t hurt that she can rock a tune on my ipod. So, hopefully she’s around the east coast soon…I see some public transportation sex in my future.

She’s the first American woman to earn a Ph.D. in computer science, has designed most of the computer languages we use, and she recently won the “Turing Award,” which is reported by Dr. Dobbs, to be like the Nobel Prize of Computers.

So cheers to Barb! I know she’s not my age…but that doesn’t mean we still can’t have a good time together….right? This chick has made great strides for women, teaches at MIT, and I’m sure she’s just looking for an outlet for that $250,000 prize money. I’m not saying I’m for sale…but Barb, feel free to email me if you’re feeling a little lonely…and if you’re gay.

Recently, the owner of gayagenda.com heard Bubba the Love Sponge on the radio in Southern Florida, and had to call in. It seems that Bubba was using the word “fag” on the radio, and James thought he would set him straight…not in a mean way, but in an informative way, letting him know how that type of language is often used to justify violence, etc…

Bubba gives his resume of good deeds for the GLBT community, and he has a few for sure. But the most interesting thing to me, is that when James asked him whether or not he uses the “N-Word” on his show…they said it “isn’t the same thing.”

What do you think?

Props to James Hipps who, regardless of taking some verbal abuse and name-calling, still held respectfully and politely to his cause. You rock.

If you’re interested in hearing the interaction, here’s the link:

More Dudes should be Chicks.

by Jul on January 19, 2009 · 0 comments

If all men became chicks like this, I’d be far more into them.

This is Patricia Araujo, a transgendered Brazilian actress (now model) who closed the Fashion show in Rio on Jan 16th with a standing ovation, according to Philly.com. She was the show stopper to the main fashion event of the year.

Kudos to a country that is able to look beyond traditional gender classifications to celebrate beauty. This chick is drop-dead gorgeous.

Support Snowzilla!

by Jul on December 24, 2008 · 0 comments

There is so much controversy over so many things, that I thought this is a cause we can all get behind. Snowzilla is a 25 ft snowman that has been “mysteriously” showing up for the past 3 years in Alaska….and the town wants him gone. Why? two reasons: 1. Snowzilla slows traffic  2. Snowzilla might fall on someone when melting.

So, in the midst of all the craziness, take the time to stand behind some real holiday spirit. In support, many ask that you build your own Snowzilla. So go out there and have some fun with your girl this winter, build a snowman (or snowwoman) and have a blast….

Here’s a man, Billy Powers, who admits to building only the first Snowzilla…even though it has magically appeared in his yard the next two years. This video is short, but only a few seconds in, you’ll see how enormous this thing really is!
